Clubhouse
The
Dune Acres Clubhouse is part of the Town park complex. It was
completed in 1925 and officially opened for use in 1926. It was
during this time that many of the Town's classic log cabins were
built. At the center of early town life was a Guesthouse, a small
hotel that had twelve guestrooms; this Clubhouse, whose dining room
served the community; and a Golf Course, which was returned back to
parkland during the depression years. The Dune Acres Clubhouse was
proclaimed "worthy of special consideration as part of the cultural
heritage of the State of Indiana" and was entered in the Indiana
Register of Historic Sites and Structures on October 25, 2006. It
was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on January
25, 2007 by the United States Department of the Interior in
cooperation with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources
Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology.
